Here’s the Bible Study I’m using with our Wednesday Afternoon Women’s Study at Southside Bible. (click on the picture to the left to view or download the study).
This study goes through the book of Phlippians a few verses at a time, and provides discussion questions, but no answers.
If you are leading a Bible study in a neighborhood or other public location, this is a great study to use.
- Because it’s not too long (probably 5-6 weeks), and a shorter length of study is a good idea for people who haven’t been involved in a study before.
- And the questions can be handed out ahead of time, to give everyone a chance to look them over and think through their answers. If you have any in your group who are new to Bible Study, they absolutely don’t want to feel awkward when questions are discussed. It’s much better to let them have the time to prepare if they want to.
If you are leading this study, answer the questions yourself as you prepare, and make note of other questions which might come up…maybe things you know your group would question, or things you honestly are questioning yourself. You can bring those questions up when appropriate, and let the group discuss them.
The whole point of a Bible study is to get “into” the Word of God. To get to know the passage of scripture well enough that it sort of “wanders” around in your mind for the rest of the day or week.
